HR Internship Program - Credit Union Our HR Internship Program provides students and early-career professionals with hands-on exposure to Human Resources within a member-focused credit union environment. Interns will gain practical experience across a broad range of HR functions while contributing to meaningful projects that support employees, leaders, and organizational initiatives. Program Highlights10-12 week program (summer or semester)Flexible schedule (20-30 hours per week)Onsite at Credit Union Headquarters with opportunities to visit branches and operational departmentsMentorship from Human Resources professionalsExposure to executive leadership and organizational strategyParticipation in real HR projects and initiatives Learning Opportunities Interns will gain experience in several areas of Human Resources, including: Talent acquisition and recruitingInterview scheduling and candidate experienceNew hire onboarding and orientationHRIS administration and employee record managementEmployee engagement and wellness initiativesTraining and development programsPerformance management processesBenefits and retirement plan administrationPayroll fundamentals and payroll process shadowingEmployee relations and workplace investigations (as appropriate)HR compliance, policies, and regulatory requirementsWorkforce planning and organizational developmentCompensation and job description analysisInternship Deliverables Throughout the internship, participants will be assigned projects that provide practical HR experience, which may include: Reviewing and updating job descriptionsAssisting with recruiting campaigns and applicant trackingSupporting onboarding and orientation processesConducting research on HR best practices and industry trendsAuditing HR files, records, and compliance documentationAssisting with employee engagement activities and eventsDeveloping process documentation and HR proceduresCreating reports, dashboards, or metrics related to HR operationsHow the Intern Can Gather Information To successfully complete assignments and projects, interns may: Shadow HR team members during daily operationsAttend meetings with managers and department leadersConduct employee and manager interviewsReview policies, procedures, and organizational documentsObserve onboarding, training, and recruiting activitiesAnalyze HR data, reports, and workforce metricsCollaborate with employees across multiple departments to understand business operations and workforce needsCapstone Project Interns will complete a final project focused on an HR initiative that supports organizational goals. Examples may include: Recruiting process improvement recommendationsEmployee engagement analysis and action planOnboarding enhancement projectHR procedure documentation projectWorkforce planning or staffing analysisTraining and development recommendationsHR metrics dashboard developmentAt the conclusion of the internship, interns will present their findings, recommendations, and key takeaways to Human Resources leadership.
