Seasonal Herbicide Applicator Required application of herbicides as needed, per label instructions. This is a seasonal job working up to 40 hours per week weather permitting. The position will also include manning the city's chip-site one week per month to enforce the city's "no contractor" policy at the site. This job will start approximately April 15' through September.Responsible for completing the daily schedule per the Street Superintendent / Foreman, including but not limited to:Herbicide spraying of City Right of Ways including curbs and gutters. By law, application must conform to all directions and labels for each use. Applicator must keep up with MSDS sheets and daily application records. Application records are to be kept for 2 years. The person in this position is also responsible for enforcing city policy in order to prevent contractor dumping and illegal dumping at the city's chip site.Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to read and understand all herbicide labels and instructions. Must be capable of working in a team environment and promote quality and cost-effective performance.High school diploma or GED required.Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate with the Superintendent/ Foreman and with the general public.Must be able to recognize problems and report those to the Superintendent/ Foreman. Must be capable of doing simple math to calculate formulas for mixing of herbicides.Must have a valid Texas driver's license.Must be capable of lifting 25 lbs., sitting for long periods of time, and capable of wearing all PPE devices necessary for the job.Applicator will spend several hours per day sitting in and operating motor vehicles with and without a cab in various types of weather. Herbicides must be applied with maximum wind speeds of 10 mph or less to prevent drift. Herbicides will only be applied in dry weather. If rain comes within four hours of application, the area will have to be re-sprayed.
