Purchasing Assistant
Position: Purchasing Specialist
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
Hours: Full Time (40 hours/week, 1st shift, M-F)

Role Overview:
The Purchasing Assistant is one the of the keys to the success of our business. This position builds strong relationships with all suppliers; plans, executes and finalizes purchasing strategies for all products. This is a hands-on purchasing assistant position. They will work closely with our Purchasing Manager and Operations Manager to take advantage of buying opportunities for day-to-day purchases. As well as maintain and strengthen ongoing relationships with existing and new suppliers. This is a hand on purchasing assistant position which requires engagement on the production floor, count bin parts, verify that our on-hand quantity is accurate, cycle count when needed.
Essential Functions:
· Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs
· Requests for quotations will be sent to vendors to solicit bids to fill the order at the direction of the Purchasing Manager as required by Design Dept. Obtain 2-3 quotes/bids for new purchases.
· Source new suppliers that offer better pricing and delivery.
· Verify pricing in MRP system on commonly purchased components that need reordered
· Create a purchase requisition in our MRP system which will contain full details on the items to be obtained
· Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries
· Building and maintaining long term positive vendor relations
· The supplier delivers the purchases items within the agreed-upon timeframe. The purchaser carefully reviews the PO with items and notifies the vendor of any discrepancies right away to avoid additional charges, delays in production and payment, or damage to supplier relationships.
· Work with various departments (Design, Controls, Coordination, Scheduling, etc.) to achieve EAC goals
· Help to support other warehouse team members as needed in shipping and receiving, parts handling and inventory
· Assist in yearly blanket orders for best price and staggered deliveries based off of usage and sales projections.
Requirements:
· Minimum 1 year experience purchasing in an MRP environment
· Understanding of warehouse and inventory management
· Experience with MRP technology and systems
· Confidentiality
· Detail orientation
· Microsoft Office Suite
Other notes:
· Total ETO MRP Experience is a huge plus
· Manufacturing background is ideal and preferred

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
