Cook in Personal Care Home

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team at a Personal Care Home. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals that meet the dietary needs of residents. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety standards, menu planning, and culinary techniques to ensure a high-quality dining experience for our residents. The Cook will work closely with staff to deliver meals that promote health and well-being in a compassionate environment. Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and resident preferences Plan menus that accommodate special diets and nutritional requirements Ensure all food is prepared safely, following proper food handling and sanitation procedures Assist with food service, including plating and serving meals to residents Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, adhering to health regulations Manage inventory, order supplies, and monitor food storage to prevent waste Collaborate with dietary staff to develop meal plans that promote residents’ health and enjoyment Ensure timely delivery of meals during scheduled service times Requirements Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles, preferably within healthcare or residential settings Knowledge of dietary department standards and menu planning for special diets Strong food safety and sanitation skills, including proper food handling techniques Experience with fine dining, catering, or restaurant environments is a plus Excellent knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail Prior experience in the food industry or kitchen experience preferred Strong organizational skills and ability to follow recipes accurately Flexibility to work scheduled shifts in accordance with meal service times This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on residents' quality of life through nutritious meal preparation.
