Be part of a passionate team that is ushering in the electric ageAbout the role : The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and delivery of magniX’s electric powertrain products. The Mechanical Engineer will evaluate requirements and use cases to create and iterate detailed CAD models of design options – including rotatives, structures, materials/lubrication selections, assembly processes, and test methods. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will be expected to support design documentation development and release, write technical reports, test requirements, and analyze test results.Primary ResponsibilitiesApply aerospace standard design practices to electric aircraft motors and sub-components, including machined components, bearing selection/sizing, material selection, coatings, fasteners, lubricants, DFM.Conduct trade studies on design and manufacturing options, identify methods for risk reduction and technology development.Produce complete design packages – detailed drawings, analysis reports, BOMs, assembly instructions.Conduct reviews of designs, manufacturing plans, and test procedures to ensure compliance with design and performance requirements.Coordinate with other departments through hardware delivery and operations (Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Testing, etc.).Lead resolution of technical problems, achieving buy-in from cross-functional teams.Develop a strong understanding of technical and certification requirements for Electric Propulsion Units for aviation.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.5+ years of relevant work experiencePractical experience using 3D CAD (SOLIDWORKS) and PDM systems.Preferred QualificationsAviation propulsion systems experience preferredHardware delivery experience and sound technical knowledge of electric machine design preferredStrong understanding of GD&T: ASME Y14.5-2009 & ASME Y14.100-2013.Location: Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.Compensation & Benefits100% company-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance (for employees & dependents). 4 weeks paid vacation + 1-week annual end-of-year shutdown, sick time, and 11 paid holidays. 401K retirement plan with industry leading 9.5% company contribution.Company paid Life insurance, AD&D, Short-Term and Long-Term disability insuranceCatered lunches and quarterly company fun-day events!Salary Range: $105,000-$160,000E-Verify: magniX utilizes E-Verify for employment eligibility verificationPre-employment Screenings: Employment with magniX is contingent upon satisfactory completion of pre-employment requirements including a background screen.EHS/Environmental Requirements: This job operates in a manufacturing and testing environment.
