Job SummaryThe Prototype Fabrication Specialist is an integral member of the Advanced Design & Development (AD&D) team. AD&D is a small group within Cirrus Aircraft Product Development whose charter is the development of new capabilities and technologies intended for our current and next generation aircraft. Prototype Fabrication Specialists will conceive and develop a wide range of prototype components. The scope may range from individual parts and systems to creating full scale highly detailed mockups. Problem-solving and communication skills are highly valued as the role is a crucial part of new product development. Specialists also need to work effectively in groups and with other departments across the organization. A thorough knowledge of materials, including foam, composites, wood, textiles and metal, along with fabrication techniques is required. Strong attention to detail and quality are required. A drive for constant improvement and an inquisitive nature are essential to this role. The ideal candidate is comfortable with driving results even during the vague early stages of development.Schedule:Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM or Tuesday-Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PMDuties and Responsibilities/Essential FunctionsDesign, develop and execute your own design and designs from othersExecute composite layups with precision across various techniques and materialsOperate CNC mills, lathes, and manual tools to create prototypes, molds, and fixturesInstall and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical assembliesCollaborate with engineers and designers to bring early-stage concepts to lifeProvide feedback on manufacturability, design feasibility, and process improvementsMaintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious workspaceRegular, reliable, and predictable attendance.Travel requirements estimated at 10%, including the possibility to travel internationally.Company vehicle driving requirements estimated at 10%; must have valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
