Job SummaryReporting directly to the Payroll/Operations Manager, responsible for performing various payroll and accounts payable (AP) duties and responsibilities. Assists with processes related to bi-weekly payroll, addresses personnel and department inquiries, and assists with personnel forms.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMEDAudits, edits, and adjusts payroll records and AP invoices as reviewed and approved by county departments and managementProcesses child support orders, federal wage garnishments, tax levies, bankruptcies, and student loansApproves and processes workflows for terminations, new hires, salary and position changes, and miscellaneous pay elements and deductions; verifies employee timecardsPerforms verifications of employmentCommunicates closely with various county departments and Accounts Payable vendors to explain payroll related policies and procedures and to resolve discrepancies and disputesServes as a liaison to the Human Resources Department in the creation of new employee recordsEnsures AP vendor Taxpayer Identification Numbers are correctCompletes verification reviews for vendors requesting electronic paymentsAssists county wide personnel with completion of payroll related formsAssists in the distribution of 1099sReviews entries made by the Accounts Payable Specialist and audits for accuracyAssists with monthly and quarterly reportingCreates and maintains various reports, forms, worksheets, and informational materialsEnsures comprehensive filing systems and databases are maintained and up to dateEnters and verifies data within applicable databases and systemsAttends all meetings and trainings, as requiredPerforms special duties as assignedORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPSReports directly to – Payroll/Operations ManagerDirect Reports – NoPHYSICAL DEMANDSPosition involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carryingENVIRONMENTAL FACTORSWork is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environmentIRREGULAR HOURSWork outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be requiredMay be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergencyThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
