Charles Schwab Investment Management Technology provides application strategy, development, and support for investment teams across multiple locations. The applications supported by this organization help power critical investment functions, including equity and fixed income trading, portfolio management, investment risk, and trade compliance.
As a Lead Software Developer, you will design, develop, test, and enhance secure, scalable applications in a data-centric environment. You will use your Java and full-stack development expertise to solve complex problems, make sound technical decisions, and deliver reliable solutions for the Investment Advisory team. Working in an Agile environment, you will collaborate across distributed teams, contribute technical direction, and mentor other engineers while strengthening application quality, security, and maintainability. Your work will directly support the technology capabilities investment professionals rely on to manage portfolios, evaluate risk, and meet compliance obligations.
What you have
Required Qualifications
10+ years of software development experience using Java
Demonstrated Software Development and Application Development experience designing, building, testing, and supporting complex enterprise applications
Experience developing REST APIs and working with Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Struts, Apache Tomcat, JSON, and XML
Experience ing Design Principles and design patterns, including Strategy, Factory, and Singleton, to build stable and reusable solutions
Experience with Unit Testing, Git-based source control, and CI/CD practices, including branch management, merge-conflict resolution, and deployment workflows
Experience identifying and addressing application security risks using static and dynamic security testing tools, common vulnerability remediation practices, and Java security libraries
Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle, DB2, MongoDB, and Redis
Working knowledge of the investment and trading lifecycle, including data, risk, and compliance requirements supporting equity and fixed income activities
Demonstrated Technical Leadership, Collaboration, and Problem Solving skills, including the ability to guide technical decisions and mentor engineers
Experience working with Agile teams and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Zephyr
Preferred Qualifications
Full-Stack Development experience across data services and user interface technologies
Experience supporting financial services, investment management, portfolio management, trading, investment risk, or trade compliance applications
Experience contributing to open-source software or maintaining a public GitHub portfolio
Ability to adapt to evolving priorities, evaluate complex technical options, and communicate recommendations across distributed engineering teams
Demonstrated commitment to Continuous Learning and ing emerging technologies to improve software quality, security, and delivery outcomes
