Sr. Accountant- General Accounting and Reporting
Brief DescriptionBASIC FUNCTIONThe Senior Accountant will play a key role in executing the Company’s core general accounting and financial reporting activities, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data across the organization. This position is responsible for performing critical components of the monthly close process and preparing internal and external financial reports. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with the Accounting Supervisor and work cross-functionally with Procurement, Supply Chain, HR, IT, and other departments to ensure data reliability and adherence to accounting policies and standards.The Senior Accountant will also support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and helping ensure adherence to internal controls. The Senior Accountant will help streamline processes, and support the adoption of automation, data-driven reporting, and modern analytical technologies—such as Power BI and cloud-based tools—to improve both efficiency and visibility. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement in all aspects of financial reporting and accounting operations.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting Perform key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate financial results. Prepare, review, and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, variances, and unusual trends. Support continuous improvement of close timelines and accounting processes. Support adherence to the Company’s capital expenditure policy by reviewing project spend, validating proper asset classification, and ensuring expenditures comply with internal guidelines. Assist with lease accounting activities by maintaining IFRS 16 schedules and preparing related monthly entries.Financial Reporting Prepare accurate financial statements, schedules, and internal management reports. Assist in drafting monthly reporting packages and financial analyses for leadership review. Perform variance analyses and provide clear, actionable explanations to management. Ensure financial reporting is completed in accordance with applicable accounting standards (primarily IFRS) and internal policies Participate in accounting policy implementation, especially IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial StatementsInternal Controls & Compliance Support the development and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with corporate accounting standards and audit requirements. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to requests, and addressing audit findings.Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, HR, IT, and other departments to validate financial data and resolve accounting issues. Provide accounting support and guidance to cross-functional partners as needed. Ability to read and interpret legal agreements for all accounting related implications. This position requires a proactive analytical mindset to be successful. The job requires extensive analytics and research with minimal supervision Knowledge of financial statement preparation and analysis. Experience reviewing/analyzing accounting and financial data, substantiating financial statement balances as well as preparing financial statement account reconciliations Skill at identifying, measuring, evaluating and improving, if needed, the effectiveness of accounting, managerial, financial and operational controls Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy Ability to consistently meet deadlines Position is heavily collaborative and requires the ability to work and communicate effectively and proactively at all organizational levels and across functional areas Must be capable of both independent and in a team-based work Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel Knowledge of SAP Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process.
