Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.Position SummaryThe Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual machining equipment to fabricate high-precision components used in satellite hardware, tooling, and ground support equipment. This role supports production, engineering development, and manufacturing operations through accurate, repeatable machining of metal, plastics, and composite materials.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and related equipmentMachine precision components from raw stock to print specificationsFabricate, modify, and repair mechanical instruments, tooling, fixtures, and assembly aidsInterpret and work from engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructionsPerform layout work, part inspection, and dimensional verification using standard metrology toolsTroubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvementsMaintain and service shop equipment to ensure safe and reliable operationSupport urgent production and prototype machining needs as requiredMinimum Qualifications3+ years of hands-on experience operating and setting up manual machining equipmentStrong understanding of machining fundamentals, mechanical principles, and shop mathematicsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsExperience operating manual mills, lathes, and drill pressesProficient with standard inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.)Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionPreferred Qualifications5+ years of machining experience in aerospace or precision manufacturingTechnical degree or formal machinist trainingExperience working with tight-tolerance componentsFamiliarity with composite materials machiningLaser tracker experienceThis job description may not be inclusive to the duties and responsibilities listed.
