They operate in the multifamily housing industry, specialising in leasing, value-add renovations, community reporting, income maximisation, marketing and asset preservation. About the role:The Senior Construction Accountant is responsible for the financial management, reporting, and oversight of construction and capital improvement projects. You will work closely with Construction, Operations, and Accounts Payable to support project execution while maintaining financial accuracy and compliance.Responsibilities:Manage full-cycle construction accounting for assigned projects, including job setup, budgets, commitments, cost tracking, and closeoutMaintain accurate job cost reports, budget-to-actual analyses, and project forecastsMonitor cost allocations and ensure expenses are coded correctly by project, phase, and cost categoryIdentify cost variances and escalate potential budget overruns in a timely mannerReview construction contracts for financial accuracy, payment terms, and billing requirementsPrepare monthly construction-in-progress (CIP) reports and reconciliationsSupport month-end and year-end close related to construction activityServe as a financial partner to Construction Project Managers and Operations teamsRespond to internal and external inquiries related to construction costs and paymentsWhat you will need:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related fieldStrong understanding of GAAP5+ years of construction accounting experience, preferably within real estate or multifamily environmentsDeep knowledge of job costing, pay applications, retainage, and construction contractsProficiency with accounting systems and construction accounting software (e.g., Yardi, Sage, MRI, or similar)Apply to find out more!
