Our solutions fall into two broad categories: control products and components.SummaryMason Controls is seeking two motivated and hands-on Operations Interns for a 4-month program beginning May 2026. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in planning, design, fabrication, programming, and project management within a manufacturing environment. Each intern will be assigned specific projects and will be expected to track progress, deliver results, and present their accomplishments at the conclusion of the program.Position Duties Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:Plan, execute, and manage assigned projects from concept through completionCreate project requirement documents and define scope, objectives, and deliverablesTrack progress and provide weekly project status updatesCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and manufacturingFollow all shop safety guidelines and best practices while working with equipment and toolsOther duties as assignedCore Projects Casting EquipmentAnalyze and understand current and new machine process capabilitiesDevelop and deliver work instructions for operating equipmentSupport training initiatives for equipment useAssist in transferring parts to new equipmentCollaborate with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) interns3D Wax Printer Research and evaluate capabilities and requirements of new 3D wax printing technologyIdentify and select part numbers for implementationCreate work orders, including is/as comparisons with First Article Inspections (FAIs) (Deliverable)Develop and document a process for transitioning parts to 3D printing (Deliverable)840 Transducer Test Fixture Complete and release detailed engineering drawings (Deliverable)Support manufacturing of fixture componentsAssist with assembly of the test fixtureB-52 Test Equipment Design an endurance test fixture (modeled after existing autobrake fixture concepts)Complete and release detailed engineering drawings (Deliverable)Support manufacturing and assembly of fixture componentsSkills & Learning Objectives During the internship, participants will gain experience and develop skills in: Design Engineering CAD design using SolidWorks3D modeling of parts and assembliesEngineering drawing creation with GD&T tolerancingDrawing release processesManufacturing Developing Standard Work Instructions (SWIs)Understanding manufacturing processes and workflowsAssembly build processesExposure to ERP systemsPlanning Creating and managing work ordersPurchasing Generating purchase requisitionsExport Control Understanding drawing classification requirementsQuality Inspection processes, including First Article Inspection (FAI)Testing Understanding Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs)Supporting tooling development for testingCommunication Collaborating within cross-functional teamsEngaging with internal and external stakeholdersQualifications Education & Experience: Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related fieldBasic knowledge or interest in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentStrong communication and organizational skillsPhysical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard / Operate machineryReaches, bends, twistsMay lift up to 25 poundsRegularly perform repetitive tasksSpecific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusOthersThis position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
