8th Grade Language Arts Teacher

OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate Eighth Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join our educational team for the 2026-2027 school year.Essential Functions:- Teach English to 8th Graders- Prepare and deliver presentations on topics such as poetry, novel structure, grammar and usage, and effective writing styles- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs and interests- Initiate, facilitate and moderate classroom discussions- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students- Prepare course materials such as plans, homework assignments, and handouts- Prepare, administer, and grade tests, papers and other assignments in order to evaluate students' progress- Maintain students attendance records, grades and other required records- Communicate professionally with parents and colleagues- Manage classroom behavior to ensure a conducive learning environmentPhysical Requirements:Works in a fast paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlinesAbility to occasionally lift up to 30 lbsWorks primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environmentWorks intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and coldWaldron Mercy Academy is an equal-opportunity employer
