This role is ideal for someone with prior newsroom or news production experience who thrives in a real-time environment and is eager to grow within a high-performing editorial team.Reporting directly to the News Editor, this role will play a critical part in executing daily coverage, monitoring breaking news, editing and publishing stories, and helping move content quickly from idea to publication.The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor with sharp news judgment, a deep interest in current events, and the ability to operate with urgency in a high-volume news cycle.This role offers a strong growth path for candidates looking to build a career in digital journalism and editorial leadership.Position RequirementsResponsibilities:Support the News Editor in managing daily editorial output in a fast-paced newsroomMonitor breaking news, social platforms, and competitor coverage throughout the dayQuickly surface story ideas and assist in developing angles for coverageEdit, write, and publish stories with speed, accuracy, and strong editorial judgmentAssist in turning around breaking news stories under tight deadlinesRewrite and adapt content from multiple sources into clean, engaging digital copyUpdate stories in real time as new information becomes availableCollaborate with writers and social team to ensure stories are optimized for distributionMaintain high editorial standards while working at speed Required Experience:3-5+ years of experience in a digital newsroom, broadcast newsroom, or news production environmentExperience as a digital content producer, assignment editor, or newsroom coordinator strongly preferredDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Core Skills:Strong writing and copy editing skillsAbility to quickly turn around clean, accurate copy under pressureSharp news judgment and understanding of what makes a story compellingFamiliarity with sourcing stories from social media, wire services, and live coverageExperience using social platforms as real-time reporting toolsFull-Time/Part-TimeFull-TimeSalary$63,500 - $68,000 + Performance BonusesPositionAssociate Editor (Digital)DivisionAtlanta Black StarNumber of Openings1Exempt/Non-ExemptNon-ExemptHiring Manager(s)Req NumberJOU-26-00002Open Date4/25/2026LocationDDM GROUP LLCAbout the OrganizationDiamond Diaspora Media exists at the intersection of technology and media.
