The company has raised over $750 million from investors, and employs a team of 450 engineers and entrepreneurs.RoleDirector, Facilities and SafetyAs Director of Facilities and Safety, you will maintain our state-of-the-art 150,000 sq. ft. campus in the historic Pier 70 building and continually build out new engineering, production, and office spaces to enable our goal of producing 24 satellites/year. You will own our safety program and drive our organization to zero injuries using a hands-on management approach to creating and enforcing safety policy.You will be responsible for building and leading a world-class team of specialists and generalists to execute projects required to achieve the mission at Astranis. The goal of producing 24/year of our next-generation spacecraft relies on rapidly expanding capabilities in a functional but cost-effective way. If you are a proven leader with a history of executing projects on-time and on-budget, this role might be for you.ResponsibilitiesHire and lead a team responsible for all facilities operations (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, janitorial, and general maintenance) at the Astranis Pier 70 facility to ensure zero unplanned interruptions of services to employees.Design, build, and maintain critical infrastructure to support satellite manufacturing and operation, including electrical, communications, air, water, industrial gases, etc.Build a safety program by implementing safety requirements, training, reporting processes, and ensuring compliance to OSHA regulations. Enforce a safety-first culture through regular engagement of employees and proactive training and drills.Work with executive leadership and internal stakeholders to develop and execute long-term planning projects such as new factory buildouts and electrical service upgrades.Manage third-party service providers to ensure projects and services are completed on-time and on budget.Set up and maintain proper disposal/treatment processes for hazardous waste streams.Build relationships with external partners such as city officials and first responders to garner support and ensure regulatory compliance.Own end-to-end project management, from defining scope and goals to timelines, tracking progress, prioritizing, removing roadblocks, and communicating status to stakeholders and internal customers.RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent10+ years of experience in construction or facilities management5+ years in a manager role with direct reportsMust be onsite 5 days a week and provide 24/7 on-call support for critical activities and emergenciesBonusBachelor's degree in construction, engineering or a related fieldUnderstanding of engineering principles of electricity, fluids, structures, etc.Experience in a factory or manufacturing environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office apps (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)Experience with Jira and Smartsheet project trackingAbility to create and maintain floor layouts and as-built drawings in AutoCADKnowledge of building management systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, generators, battery backup)Experience maintaining assets such as cranes, thermal chambers, CNC machines, and other manufacturing/test equipmentKnowledge of OSHA standards and factory safety regulationsAbility to operate forklifts, boom lifts, cranes, and other heavy machineryWhat we offerAll our positions offer a compensation package that includes equity and robust benefits.Base pay is a component of Astranis's total rewards package, which may include equity in the form of incentive stock options, health insurance, disability and life insurance benefits, flexible PTO, 401(k), and on-site meals.Astranis pay ranges are informed by salary surveys and compensation data sources.
