Certified Coder
Job Summary
Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results as appropriate to extract data and apply appropriate ICD and CPT codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. Accurately code outpatient physician practices, ambulatory surgery (same day surgery), and observation service encounters, conditions and procedures as documented in the ICD-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. Resolve error reports associated with billing process, identify and report error patterns, and, when necessary, assist in design and implementation of workflow changes to reduce coding, documentation, and billing errors. This position has a remote work option for an experienced coder, once system orientation is completed and productivity standards are being met. Flexible work schedule, 40 hours per week required.
Minimum Education/License/Certification Requirements
College degree preferred, but not required.
CPC or CPC-A certification required (prefer AAPC), knowledge of CPT and ICD coding in physician practices.
Must maintain certifications and continuing education requirements annually.
