Join us and be a part of a team that puts people first!Position SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Machinist/Millwright to support heavy industrial operations in New Orleans, LA by fabricating, repairing, and machining precision parts for critical equipment and assets. This role requires hands-on experience operating manual machining equipment and the ability to work from manual drawings, hand sketches, and other design specifications to produce high-quality components.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate manual machining equipment including:LeBlond latheStandard Modern 1530 latheVertical and horizontal milling machinesDrill presses, grinders, and other shop equipmentMachine, fabricate, modify and repair parts for industrial assets such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, shafts, and structural componentsInterpret technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirementsPerform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring toolsMaintain tight tolerances and ensure finished parts meet specificationsSelect appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, and materials for each jobPerform equipment maintenance and ensure machines are in safe operating conditionAssist with equipment teardown, inspection, and rebuilds as neededFollow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environmentSustain and maintain organization of machine tooling by engaging with site expectations including the 5S Housekeeping philosophyRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED (technical or trade school preferred)3+ years of experience operating manual machining equipment in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environmentStrong experience with manual lathes and milling machinesAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematicsProficiency with hand tools and precision measuring instrumentsSolid understanding of machining principles, materials, and toolingAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPreferred QualificationsExperience in heavy industry (e.g., steel, oil & gas, power generation, or similar)Welding or fabrication experience is a plusFamiliarity with equipment repair and maintenance processesBasic knowledge of CNC machining (not required but beneficial)Experience in maintenance, repair and custom fabricationCompensation And BenefitsMonday – Friday, minimal nights or weekendsFull-time, year-roundPTO and 8 paid company holidaysMedical and dental insuranceEmployer paid vision insuranceEmployer paid life insuranceHSA and FSA with employer contribution401(k) with company match IND01EMR USA Metal Recycling provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.E-Verify is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
