Municipal Research Analyst

Credit Analyst Credit Analyst will perform fundamental credit analysis on issuers in the municipal bond market. Primary responsibilities include the development of fundamental credit opinions, assigning internal credit ratings, and establishing credit outlooks for individual municipal borrowers. The analyst will also be responsible for monitoring specific legislative, regulatory, economic, and fiscal developments related to the municipal market. Analyst is expected to actively maintain and communicate internal ratings and other risk assessments to the broader investment team. Coverage responsibilities would ideally reflect the strengths and professional background of the candidate.Key Responsibilities / Duties:Analyst will be expected to identify, assume and manage credit risks and work effectively with investment team membersAnalyze multiple sectors and issuers within the municipal bond marketProduce well researched, concise reports for investment professionalsMaintain appropriate and required documentation in database supporting internal credit opinionsActively recommend changes to issuer-specific credit ratings and outlooksCommunicate effectively with broader investment teamDevelop relationships with underwriters, sell-side research, credit rating agencies, professionals of municipal bond issuers and industry organizationsPerform special projects, including AI-related projects, as required by the broader credit teamWork Experience / Knowledge:Up to 8 years of related work experience in fixed-income credit analysisKnowledge of municipal credit analysis preferredSkills / Other Personal Attributes Required:Ability to cooperate in a team environment is criticalExcellent analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracyExcellent communication and interpersonal skills needed to effectively share knowledge and opinions with the broader investment teamAbility to make decisions and recommendations despite incomplete information, sometimes under stressful conditionsOpen minded, flexible and willing to listen for other people's opinionsMust exhibit appropriate software knowledge of Windows-based applications, with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with Bloomberg a plusFormal Education:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related fieldMBA and/or CFA designation is preferredThe salary range for this position in Downers Grove, IL and New York is $125,000 -$135,000/year. The total compensation offered for this position includes salary and incentive pay and will vary based on skills, experience and location.
