Transportation Engineer (PE)
Position SummaryArdurra is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Transportation Project Engineer to join our growing Transportation team. This role focuses on the planning, design, and delivery of highway and local roadway projects for public sector clients including state DOTs, counties, and municipalities. The ideal candidate is a strong technical contributor with experience in roadway design and a passion for delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions that improve mobility, safety, and community connectivity. Position is available out of Salt Lake City Utah, Boise Idaho, Spokane Washington or Coeur d’Alene Idaho.ResponsibilitiesLead or support the geometric design of highways, arterials, collectors, and local roadwaysPrepare detailed construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E)Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, typical sections, and cross sectionsPerform drainage design coordination and grading tied to roadway improvementsUtilize design software to produce 3D roadway models and plan setsCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic, drainage, utilities, geotechnical, and structuresEnsure designs comply with AASHTO, MUTCD, and applicable state/local DOT standardsSupport client coordination, project scheduling, and task managementReview plans and calculations for quality assurance and adherence to standardsProvide construction support, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and field coordinationRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license (required or ability to obtain within 6 months if already licensed in another state)5-15+ years of experience in transportation/roadway engineering designProficiency in roadway design software including:AutoCAD Civil 3DBentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD)Experience developing plan & profile sheets, cross sections, and corridor modelsStrong understanding of AASHTO design guidelines and state DOT standardsAbility to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced consulting environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience working on DOT-funded or municipal roadway projectsFamiliarity with additional tools such as:MicroStationBluebeamSynchro or traffic analysis tools (a plus)GIS applications (ArcGIS)Experience with stormwater design and roadway drainage integrationKnowledge of utility coordination and right-of-way considerationsPrior experience serving as task lead or deputy project managerMaster’s degree in Civil Engineering (nice to have)Salary$95,000 - $150,000Why Ardurra?While Ardurra offers competitive compensation and rich benefits programs, it is our culture that truly sets us apart from our peers.
