Mid-Level Java Engineer – Engineer 2Location: Fort Worth, TX 76155Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per weekJob Type: ContractJob OverviewWe are seeking a Mid-Level Java Engineer (Engineer 2) with strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, and Production Support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting scalable enterprise applications in a DevOps-focused Agile environment.The successful candidate should have strong debugging and problem-solving skills, a focus on delivering high-quality code, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and document high-quality software solutions using Java and Spring Boot.Build and maintain scalable microservices-based applications.Develop and support event-driven integrations using Apache Kafka.Troubleshoot application and production issues and perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA).Develop reliable, scalable, and high-performing production applications.Identify and address performance, latency, scalability, resiliency, and reliability challenges.Participate in production support activities and implement permanent solutions for recurring issues.Write unit tests and maintain code quality using appropriate development and testing practices.Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD, deployments, monitoring, and application support.Contribute to reducing technical debt and improving existing systems.Follow secure coding practices and work with security teams when appropriate.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and other engineering squads.Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and continuously improve development and delivery processes.Mentor junior engineers and promote strong software engineering practices.Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to prototypes and technical solutions when appropriate.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.7–9+ years of professional software development experience in production environments.Strong hands-on experience with Java.Strong experience with Spring Boot and Microservices.Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.Strong Production Support, troubleshooting, and debugging experience.Experience performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and resolving complex technical issues.Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design and development principles.Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.Strong communication and collaboration skills.
