Assistant Controller

Job Description SummaryAs an Assistant Controller working for Taylor Morrison you will be responsible for working alongside the Controller and review division’s financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, headcount and more.We trust that as an Assistant Controller you will: (responsibilities)Responsible for division reporting/month-end close process (weekly, month-end, quarterly) with review by Controller and VP FinanceResponsible for periodic operational reports such as volume risk, backlog margin report, etc.Responsible for assistance with the annual budget/monthly/quarterly forecast process (includes maintenance of subdivision files, CCP, etc.)Responsible for preparation of supporting information for weekly cash flow forecastsPrepare division sales commissions and payroll calculationsPrepare monthly general ledger and bank reconciliationsPrepare and audit Weekly Unit reportPrepare, audit and upload Weekly Sales Margin reportResponsible for accuracy/maintenance of entries from the fixed asset reporting systemAssist closing coordinator with pre-audit HUD’s for closings and closing homes via JE templatesPreparation and analyze OH variance reportsAssist AP admin with review of property tax paymentsPreparation of intercompany account reconciliationsSign-off and posting of cash receipt journal entriesAssist AP Admin with maintaining all coding schedulesResponsible for miscellaneous management reportingResponsible for system financial maintenance of homebuilding software (Newstar)You are willing to perform other duties as assignedWhat you will need: (competencies, behaviors & attributes) Business AcumenCustomer FocusDeveloping Direct Reports and OthersDrive for ResultsPriority SettingSelf-KnowledgeAbout you:Bachelor’s degree in finance or accountingStrong knowledge of ExcelNewstar and Soloman experience strongly preferredPast experience in an accounting position with homebuilder a plusCredit report in good standingFLSA Status: ExemptWill have responsibilities such as:Interviewing, selecting, and training employeesSetting rates of pay and hours of workAppraising productivity; handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employeesDetermining work techniquesPlanning the workApportioning work among employeesDetermining the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials neededPlanning budgets for workMonitoring work for legal or regulatory complianceProviding for safety and security of the workplaceEssential Functions:Successful job applicants will be able to perform these functions.
