Systems Engineer (temp to perm)

Smart Design is looking for a temp-to-perm mid-level or senior systems engineer to work across one or two exciting client projects. The role will tentatively start as soon as possible (June 2026) and will continue for 3-6 months, but could transition to full-time sooner. NATURALLY YOU'LL HAVE:Proficiency with Git Experience with circuit designFamiliarity with embedded systems, circuits, microcontrollers and sensorsExperience with PCB layout using AltiumExperience with DFMA for electronicsExperience designing electronics for small consumer appliancesExperience with manual board assembly and reworkExperience with design to meet regulatory requirementsNice to havesAbility to code in C/C++, pythonExperience working with connected devicesExperience collaborating with a multi-discipline teamPlease note, the role is based in Brooklyn and the candidate will be onsite a minimum of 4 days per week.The salary range will be dependent on experience and from a full-time salary perspective will range from $85,000-$110,000 plus benefits, and $45-65/hour on a temporary basis. We are committed to creating an inclusive culture and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
