For more information about ECCO Select, visit us at www.eccoselect.com.Position Title: DIRECTOR, TECHNOLOGY – DATA ARCHITECTRemotePOSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking a Director, Technology – Data Architect to lead the architecture and delivery of enterprise data solutions supporting marketing, analytics, data science, and connected customer experiences.This individual will analyze business processes, customer-experience requirements, data sources, and enterprise technology environments to create scalable data architectures, models, platforms, and pipelines. The Director will work across business and technical teams to establish a holistic view of the data required to support marketing activation, analytics, data science, application development, and data-driven customer experiences.This is a leadership and client-facing consulting role with meaningful technical depth. The Director will lead teams of data engineers and architects, serve as a primary technical liaison to clients, define short- and long-term data strategies, and ensure solutions meet business, technical, security, integration, cost, and delivery objectives.The successful candidate must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences while remaining technically credible across data architecture, cloud platforms, data engineering, governance, modeling, integration, automation, and DataOps.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESData Architecture and StrategyAnalyze business environments, operating processes, customer-experience objectives, and enterprise data ecosystems.Translate business and customer requirements into scalable enterprise data architectures.Define current-state and future-state data architecture, including platforms, integrations, data flows, models, pipelines, governance, and operating standards.Develop short- and long-term data and technology strategies in partnership with senior management, business stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams.Create architectural roadmaps that connect current capabilities to the organization’s future-state business and technology objectives.Establish data architecture principles, standards, policies, procedures, and reusable design patterns.Evaluate new technologies and determine their practical application, limitations, risks, costs, and value.Recommend platform upgrades, architectural improvements, technology priorities, and strategic data directions based on research, consultation, and analysis.Ensure architecture decisions support scalability, availability, maintainability, security, performance, and long-term business objectives.Build consensus among stakeholders with different technical requirements, business priorities, and perspectives.Data Modeling and EngineeringLead the collection, enrichment, modeling, integration, and delivery of data across the enterprise.Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models supporting marketing, analytics, data science, customer experience, application development, and operational use cases.Design data schemas and structures that support application and API development.Define data-ingestion, transformation, integration, orchestration, storage, access, and delivery patterns.Lead the design and development of enterprise data pipelines and automation frameworks.Apply data-engineering concepts, methods, tools, and patterns to solve complex enterprise data problems.Support both internally developed applications and commercial off-the-shelf platforms.Define appropriate use of relational, NoSQL, distributed, cloud-native, and large-scale data technologies.Apply DataOps principles to automate data pipelines, infrastructure, testing, deployment, monitoring, and recovery.Ensure data solutions include appropriate controls for data quality, lineage, classification, security, governance, retention, and recovery.Provide technical direction for complex data integrations across applications, databases, analytics platforms, and cloud environments.Technical and Team LeadershipLead one or more teams of data architects, data engineers, analysts, developers, and other technology professionals.Assign work according to team members’ experience, technical strengths, project needs, and delivery priorities.Ensure team members possess the skills, training, tools, and resources required to deliver their assigned work.Mentor team members using servant-leadership and multiplier principles.Provide technical leadership for major applications, data platforms, integrations, and transformation programs.Review architecture, designs, data models, schemas, pipelines, implementation plans, and technical documentation.Establish and enforce engineering and architectural standards that support a reliable, high-quality data infrastructure.Anticipate delivery challenges and remove technical or organizational obstacles.Promote sustainable data orchestration and effective collaboration across data, technology, product, analytics, and business teams.Make timely architecture and delivery decisions and communicate the reasoning behind those decisions.Ensure projects meet expectations related to cost, benefit, quality, timeliness, integration, business strategy, and technical recommendations.Client and Stakeholder LeadershipServe as a primary technical liaison and trusted data advisor to clients.Lead client discovery sessions to understand business processes, customer-experience objectives, data needs, technical constraints, and organizational priorities.Consult with clients regarding data architecture, technology opportunities, process improvements, and industry best practices.Communicate architectural findings, recommendations, risks, tradeoffs, and outcomes to technical and nontechnical audiences.Present complex technical information in a clear, understandable, and decision-oriented manner.Monitor client priorities and ensure technical delivery remains aligned with current business needs.Build strong working relationships with process owners, architects, systems analysts, developers, data scientists, database administrators, project managers, and senior leaders.Facilitate alignment and consensus across groups with competing priorities or different perspectives.Anticipate significant technology and industry changes and explain their potential business implications.Identify opportunities to improve client capabilities, customer experiences, and data-driven decision-making.Program and Delivery ManagementPartner with project and program management teams to develop and execute project plans.Develop major systems plans and tactical data strategies.Estimate technical effort, resource requirements, dependencies, and delivery risks.Manage workloads, deliverables, schedules, and priorities at both the individual and team level.Ensure the appropriate work is assigned to the appropriate team members.REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEData ArchitectureDeep understanding of enterprise data architecture principles and patterns.Strong experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.Experience designing enterprise data platforms, data pipelines, integration frameworks, and data-delivery solutions.Strong knowledge of data collection, classification, enrichment, modeling, governance, ETL/ELT, security, retention, lineage, and recovery.Experience designing data schemas for application and API development.Ability to connect data architecture decisions to business, application, analytics, and customer-experience requirements.Experience creating current-state assessments, future-state architectures, roadmaps, standards, and implementation plans.Data Engineering and DevelopmentTechnical proficiency with data science and data-engineering tools such as Python, Jupyter, NumPy, and R.Strong understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.Working knowledge of application-development languages such as Java or Scala.Experience with enterprise and large-scale data platforms such as Teradata, Hadoop, and cloud-based data lake technologies.Experience designing and supporting automated data pipelines.Understanding of DataOps, automated testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational support.Knowledge of API architecture, data contracts, schemas, and integration patterns.Ability to evaluate and troubleshoot complex data-processing and integration problems.Cloud and Platform ExperienceStrong understanding of cloud architecture across Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.Experience with cloud data technologies such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, Databricks, AWS Glue, or comparable platforms.Ability to evaluate and select appropriate cloud services based on scalability, security, performance, cost, and business requirements.Understanding of hybrid, multi-cloud, and enterprise integration considerations.Experience with data-platform modernization
