Mechanical Engineer

ResponsibilitiesArcfield is currently seeking skilled and motivated full-time Mechanical Engineer to support on-site at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC). You will support Code 34 Radar In-Service Engineering Agency (ISEA) Team. Tasking will include analysis, design and capability enhancements, testing support, and in-service support for new and fielded Radar Systems.Duties and Responsibilities:Design system modernization and capabilities expansions to meet emerging Navy needsAnalysis for and development of Engineering Change Instructions and Engineering Change ProposalsAssess installation and system requirements to determine equipment layoutPerform gap, fault/failure, and performance analysesDocument and present trade studiesDevelop and review drawing packages and support related technical data package creationInvestigate capabilities and applicability of unique testing environments to support required testing objectivesSupport development of test plans and test procedures for the Environmental Qualification and Survivability (e.g. Shock, Vibration, temperature, flooding/moisture vulnerability testing) of shipboard and land-based militarized and commercial-grade Combat Systems componentsPerform analyses of test results to determine testing impacts on components and subsequent assessments of survivability, vulnerability, reliability and replaceability.Perform impact analysis of testing on related systems /subsystemsPerform and/or support integration and subsequent environmental testing eventsPerform and/or support factory acceptance testingDevelop program status reports such as technical assessments, risk assessments, technical recommendations or technical informationCreate drawings for components of Radar systemsModify drawings for components or units for Radar systemsTravel may be required 10% of the time.QualificationsRequirements/Skills:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or related engineering discipline. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, prior navy experience shall be considered.BS 0-2 YearsBasic experience and knowledge associated with mechanical engineering functions related to design, troubleshooting, analysis, reporting, and/or testing of complex systemsKnowledge of Environmental testing methodologies, objectives, testing environmentsTechnical writing and presentation skills required along with a strong proficiency in Microsoft WordExperience in Microsoft ExcelExperience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similarExperience in VISIO or similar engineering-oriented documentation applications is a plusExperience with process improvement methods, practices, and procedures (i.e., CMMI) is a plusAdditional RequirementsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environmentStrong documentation and communication skillsUnderstanding DoD engineering design practices is a plusAbililty to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Active or very recent DoD Security clearance preferred.Equal Pay ActThis is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
