DevOps Software Engineer – Kubernetes / Cloud-Native Infrastructure

Position Overview
We are seeking a DevOps-focused Software Engineer to support an enterprise language services team in Chantilly, VA. This role will focus on the implementation, deployment, and support of Kubernetes-based infrastructure and applications within a secure, mission-focused environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Kubernetes, containerization, automation, and cloud-native technologies. This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys building scalable infrastructure, supporting application modernization, and working closely with development, operations, and mission teams to deliver reliable enterprise solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Kubernetes-based infrastructure and applications.
Deploy, manage, and optimize containerized applications in secure enterprise environments.
Build and maintain DevOps pipelines to support application deployment, testing, monitoring, and release management.
Work with development teams to containerize applications and improve deployment efficiency.
Support cloud-native architecture, automation, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
Troubleshoot issues across Kubernetes clusters, containers, applications, networking, and deployment pipelines.
Collaborate with software engineering, DevOps, systems administration, and mission stakeholders.
Support configuration management, infrastructure-as-code, and repeatable deployment practices.
Monitor application and infrastructure performance, reliability, and scalability.
Document technical processes, deployment procedures, configurations, and operational standards.
Support continuous improvement efforts to improve system availability, automation, security, and performance.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience with Kubernetes and Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, container images, registries, and container orchestration.
Experience supporting cloud-native application environments.
Experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting applications in enterprise or mission-critical environments.
Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and release management.
Experience working in Linux-based environments.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical teams.
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
Experience supporting language services, translation technologies, natural language processing, or related enterprise application teams.
Experience with Helm, Argo CD, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar deployment tools.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or other secure cloud environments.
Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
Experience supporting microservices-based architectures.
Experience working in classified, government, or Intelligence Community environments.
Experience implementing security best practices within Kubernetes and containerized environments.
Familiarity with service mesh technologies, secrets management, and cluster hardening.
