We're venture-backed, based in sunny Los Angeles, and always looking for people ready to challenge the industry-and do the best work of their careers.About the roleWe are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Legal & People Ops Specialist to support Ritual's Legal and People teams. Reporting to the Director of Legal, this role sits at the intersection of HR, compliance, and legal operations-ensuring strong infrastructure, seamless processes, and a high standard of confidentiality and care.You will play a critical role in managing documentation and processes across both the Legal and People departments. This role requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to operate effectively across sensitive employee and legal matters.What you'll doLegal OperationsOwn intake, triage, and routing of contracts, vendor agreements, and NDAs between internal and external counsel, identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation to increase efficiencyMaintain organized, audit-ready records of all legal documents, including contracts, agreements, correspondence, and filings, ensuring accuracy and version controlProvide general legal administrative support (e.g. administrative workflows, scheduling meetings between internal stakeholders and external counsel as required)Maintain and update Legal knowledge base on Notion, and shared resources for consistency and accuracySupport special projects in partnership with Director of Legal as requiredPeople Operations Support HR administration activities including maintenance of employee records, support for HRIS data integrity, creation and processing of employee lifecycle documentation (i.e., change letters, compliance records, performance documentation, etc)Monitor and maintain internal employee investigation and complaint tracking systems (e.g., ER tracker, anonymous ethics hotline or similar tools), with professionalism and discretionMaintain HR policies and process documentation across platforms (e.g., employee handbook, performance management guides and manager tools), with regular audits for accuracy and consistencyManage People Support inbox to intake, triage and route employee requests appropriatelySupport special projects with Sr Director of People as requiredWho you are Detail-Oriented: You care about the details-because you know they add up to better, more trustworthy outcomes.Operational Excellence: You build and manage processes that make things run smoothly, reliably, and at scale.Self-Starter: You take initiative and move work forward independently. You keep momentum even without constant direction.Trusted Partner: You maintain confidentiality and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive legal, business, and employment issues.What you'll need 3-6 years of experience in Legal Operations, People Operations, HR, Support & Administration for Legal or People Executives, or a related fieldExceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skillsExperience handling confidential or sensitive information with discretion and professionalismExperience managing and prioritizing multiple workflows and stakeholders in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with Slack, Google Workspace and HRIS Platforms (e.g. Rippling)Preferred QualificationsExperience with or exposure to employment law fundamentals, HR best practices, HRIS systems (e.g., employee relations, people operations)Paralegal experience, or exposure to contract management and legal documentation processesPrior experience working within AI systems (Claude, Notion AI, Harvey, etc.)We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every qualification listed above. The salary range represents the entire compensation range for this position. Exact compensation will depend on a number of factors, which may include the successful candidate's skills, level, years of experience, technical expertise, and other qualifications. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
