Position Title: Psychiatric Medical DirectorDepartment: ConsultantsReports To: President & CEOPOSITION SUMMARYResponsible for oversight of the acute psychiatric hospital and works in conjunction with the President and CEO, Clinical Director, and Medical Director, who oversees withdrawal management (detox) of patients on the unit. Overseeing the quality of psychiatric services2. Review and assist in the development of policies and procedures for the inpatient unit for review and adoption by administration3. Recommend and advise on changes in care to improve clinical outcomes4. Review the work of other psychiatric providers5. Participate in hospital management meetings as assigned and needed6. Assume responsibility for complying with the requirements for Joint Commission accreditation and all other pertinent regulatory agencies in conjunction with other unit directors7. Evaluate the best use of resources in clinical care and provide recommendations to improve care8. Attend Credentialing Committee meetings, as needed9. Participate in peer review of other psychiatric providers10.Participate in internal and external utilization review, as necessary11.Work closely with the Clinical Director, Inpatient Unit Director, Nursing Director, and other medical staff to address clinical and management issues on the unit12.Provide education to hospital staff through organized trainingsExternal Relationships:1. Participate in meetings with insurance companies and other payors as needed2. Represent Tarzana Treatment Centers in a positive manner in the communityEDUCATIONA M.D. or D.O., completion of a residency in Psychiatry, licensure as a physician in the State of California, and certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.EXPERIENCEMinimum of two (2) years' experience working on an inpatient unit as a psychiatrist.
