Extruder Operator

Extruder and Header Equipment OperatorResponsible for set up, operating, adjusting, testing and maintaining extruder and header equipment. Maintains quality check log and completes production report on a daily basis. Communicates quality, material and production issues to supervisor. Keeps area clean and orderly and routes scrap to appropriate place.English literate (speak, write and read). Competent with basic math operations. Mechanical ability and understanding. Able to do adjustments to meet parts specs. Able to use micrometers, calipers, industrial microscope, rulers, etc. Knows molds, sizes, shapes and thread standards. Knowledge of good manufacturing standards for plastic tubes. Able to detect equipment malfunctions or misalignments visually and hearing machine noise. Ability to work in and promote team environment.Past employment experience (Specify minimum desired time of past job experience) 1 2 years recent experience as a machine operator in plastic industry or similar manufacturing environment.Education (Indicate minimum level of educational desired: basic, high school, GED, vocational, technical, professional., etc. Also certificates, degrees and/or licenses required for the position) High School diploma or GED certificate; or Tenth grade education equivalent plus 3 4 years applicable experience.Position main duties (Describe the main functions, tasks, duties, responsibilities and accountabilities of the job) 1. Upon receiving job order, reads job specs and procures all applicable tooling 2. Sets up the machine to accommodate for job orders and specs in the production run 3. Conducts ongoing visual inspection of machine for leaks, loose belts, etc., according to checklist. 4. Conducts adjustments as needed to meet customer's specs. 5. Continuously checks, on a random basis, for compliance to customer specs and quality standards. 6. Identifies and promptly reports to supervisors equipment malfunction, material, safety or quality issues. 7. Completes forms, documents and QA measurements per production run. 8. Performs line clearance procedures in the event of change of products. 9. Completes forms, documents and quality assurance (QA) measurements per production run. 10. Performs line clearance procedures in the event of change of products. 11. Complies with company personnel and safety policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 12. Performs special projects and assignments as directed by supervisory personnel.
