Communications Coordinator
The communications team at Washington Filmworks and its partner organization Whipsmart is growing. Are you passionate about Washington’s creative community and motion picture industry?
This job in a nutshell
This unique opportunity will support two organizations: Washington Filmworks and [soon to be renamed!] Whipsmart which both support Washington State’s creative industries. We are seeking a full-time Communications Coordinator who will oversee the day-to-day coordination of communications initiatives and will be responsible for helping procure, maintain, and broadcast a wide array of resources to effectively market each organization.
About the organizations
Washington Filmworks is a not-for-profit 501(c)(6) organization that manages the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program as well as a variety of resources for the creative industries in Washington State. The mission of Washington Filmworks is to create economic development opportunities by building and enhancing the competitiveness, profile and sustainability of Washington State’s film industry.
At Whipsmart we are unapologetic advocates for creative people and businesses. We give creatives the tools they need to succeed by offering curated resources that speak their language, intentional networking that’s worth their time, and meaningful opportunities that help level them up.
Who, exactly, are we looking for?
We’re looking for that fantastic balance of skillset and vibe, a creative thinker with a good sense of humor. A highly organized self-starter with an attention to detail and the ability to pivot with ease. You’ll need to be just as comfortable out in the community as you are in front of a computer supporting overall communications logistics for each organization. An exceptional candidate will have a commitment to equity, access and inclusivity.
We believe that diversity of ideas and experience is one of our greatest strengths. We strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented communities to apply, which often include: Black, Latino, Indigenous and American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders, and other persons of color, members of religious minorities, refugees, migrants, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQIA2S+) persons, rural communities, formerly incarcerated persons, persons experiencing homelessness, and persons with disabilities. Although no candidate will match 100% with this job description, culture fit and willingness to learn with us is as important as the skills you bring.
