Sr Structural / Precast Engineer (PE) Full Time Onsite in Lake Charles, LA Design Department Reporting to Engineering Manager An established industrial contractor with more than 70 years of experience is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support complex construction projects nationwide. The organization specializes in turnkey construction solutions, including specialized precast concrete manufacturing and design-build services, and is widely recognized as a go-to contractor for high-grade epoxy intumescent and concrete fireproofing, primarily serving the petrochemical industry This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys combining technical design, field support, and cross-functional collaboration. Essential Functions Perform structural design and analysis of prestressed and precast concrete elements, including beams, columns, wall panels, piles, and related systems Design and evaluate specialty concrete systems, including underground utility trenches, electrical and communication duct banks, and deep foundation systems using precast and prestressed piles Prepare and review engineering calculations, shop drawings, and erection drawings to ensure accuracy and constructability Coordinate with detailing teams, production staff, and field personnel to ensure alignment between design intent, fabrication, and erection Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and design revisions throughout the project lifecycle Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ACI, and PCI requirements Support optimization and value engineering efforts to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness of precast systems Provide technical support during fabrication and field erection, including troubleshooting design or constructability issues Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and tracking of engineering deliverables Provide guidance and training to detailing personnel to ensure alignment with engineering design intent and support the development of detailing capabilities across the team Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills for Success Strong knowledge of prestressed concrete behavior, PCI design standards, load paths, connection design, and erection stability Familiarity with underground and buried structure design, including soil interaction, durability, and applied loading conditions Experience with structural design and analysis tools such as ETABS, Tekla Structural Designer, Eriksson Technologies, or similar platforms Understanding of precast production processes, erection practices, and lifting design considerations Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders High attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability, and a focus on constructability and efficiency Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, related degree, or related experience 8+ years of experience in precast and prestressed concrete engineering Professional Engineer PE license Benefits Competitive base depending on experience Relocation package and/or sign-on bonus may be considered Medical, dental, and vision benefits HSA, Group Term Life, and AD&D Voluntary Term Life Short Term and Long Term Disability 401(K) with match PTO, Holidays and more!
