Job Description Position SummaryWestphal & Co., Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee electrical construction projects from bid through closeout. This role is responsible for driving project efficiency and profitability while serving as the primary liaison between clients, field teams, and internal stakeholders. The Project Manager will split time between the office and job sites to ensure successful project execution.All applications and resumes are reviewed by a real person. No AI or automated screening tools are used.Key ResponsibilitiesEstimatingPrepare estimates for plans & specifications, design-build, and conceptual projectsPerform quantity takeoffs and solicit/evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotesSecure competitive material and equipment pricingUtilize company estimating software and proprietary labor/material databasesReview pricing strategies and construction methods to improve future estimatesBusiness DevelopmentBuild and maintain relationships with current and prospective clientsSupport business development efforts aligned with company goalsCollaborate with Project Executives to pursue new markets and opportunitiesRepresent the company through civic, social, and trade activitiesProject ManagementManage projects in compliance with contracts, industry standards, and NEC requirementsOversee preconstruction through project closeoutCoordinate with foremen to plan, schedule, and staff projects efficientlyMonitor productivity, costs, and profitability; implement corrective actions as neededManage project correspondence, meetings, billings, and monthly job cost projections (WIP)Negotiate material and equipment purchasesQualificationsRequiredMinimum 2 years of project management experience with an electrical contractorExperience in commercial, industrial, and solar projectsPreferredBachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related fieldExperience with electrical estimating softwareStrong working knowledge of NEC and industry standardsKey CompetenciesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailClear, professional communication with clients, contractors, and team membersAbility to analyze complex problems and make independent decisionsExperience supporting sales and marketing effortsHigh ethical standards, integrity, and professionalismResults-driven, innovative, and aligned with company goalsWorking ConditionsLocation: Madison, WI (office-based with occasional job site visits)Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday; extended hours as business needs requirePhysical Demands: Primarily sedentary; occasional lifting up to 20 lbs and site-related movementTravel: MinimalTechnology: Daily use of Accubid, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and online compliance systemsCompany DescriptionFounded in 1931, Westphal & Co. is a full service electrical & technology contractor serving the Midwest and selected domestic markets from our headquarters in Madison, WI.
