Food Manufacturing | On-site (Sioux City, IA)Salary: $75k–$85k DOE $5k Sign-On BonusSchedule: Monday–Friday | 8am-5pmBenefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, Career Development ProgramsRelocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.Position SummaryThe R&D Technologist will play a key role in advancing innovation within a high-volume food manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for supporting research initiatives, developing new product formulations, and improving existing products to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost performance.Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role supports the full product lifecycle—from early-stage concept development through plant trials and commercial launch. The ideal candidate is technically curious, highly organized, and comfortable operating in both laboratory and production settings.Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Development & CommercializationDevelop new food products and product line extensions from concept through commercial productionTranslate bench-scale formulas into scalable production processesConduct plant trials and manufacturing validations to ensure product performance and consistencyUtilize internal formulation systems to create, update, and maintain product specificationsResearch, Testing & EvaluationExecute pilot plant trials and prototype testing to validate product conceptsAnalyze data and document results from formulation experiments and processing trialsOrganize internal product evaluations and sensory reviews to support development decisionsProvide project updates and technical findings to internal stakeholdersCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with teams across operations, quality, engineering, marketing, and supply chain to support successful product launchesAssist colleagues within R&D on prototype development and technical problem solvingSupport manufacturing teams during production testing and process adjustmentsRegulatory & Technical DocumentationMaintain detailed records including formulas, project documentation, product specifications, and testing resultsEnsure development activities align with applicable food safety regulations and industry standardsStay current with ingredient functionality, formulation practices, and manufacturing technologiesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Animal Science, or related scientific discipline2+ years of experience supporting product development within a food manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of ingredient functionality and food formulation principlesExperience working with pilot plant equipment and product testing methodsFamiliarity with formulation software or product lifecycle management systemsAbility to manage multiple projects and meet development timelinesStrong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills (Preferred)Master's degree in Food Science or related scientific fieldExperience working in high-volume protein or food processing operationsKnowledge of regulatory and food safety standards including USDA or FDA guidelinesIf you meet the above qualifications and would like to apply for this position, please click APPLY NOW and upload your most current resume or you may email your resume to our recruiter, Heather Murphy at ...@adeccona.com.
