We invite you to be one of them.Internship descriptionCalling all aspiring community engagement professionals interested in the intersection of sustainable food systems, education, and visitor experience.About The RoleThis summer, Blue Hill at Stone Barns is seeking a creative and motivated Campus Experience Intern to support visitor engagement at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture.Stone Barns Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit farm, research, and education center. Through collaborative research, we advance our mission to catalyze an ecological food culture in New York’s Hudson Valley. Working with the Communications and Campus Experience Manager, you will educate and engage thousands of weekly visitors in regenerative agriculture and sustainable food systems. You will collaborate with the communications, development, and design teams to create a cohesive campus experience strategy and, in the process, gain valuable insight into nonprofit operations.About YouCreative: You think outside the box and seek out inspirationDetail-Oriented: You're able to juggle multiple tasks and keep track of the small details that make a big differenceCommunicative: You're clear, concise, and professional in both written and verbal communicationResourceful: You solve problems before they arise and are quick to adapt when things shiftEngaged: You care about sustainability and building community within our food systemProfessional: You carry yourself with maturity and are comfortable working with staff and visitorsTeam-Oriented: You thrive in collaborative environments and are always willing to pitch inSkills And ExperienceDemonstrated background or interest in community engagement, visitor experience, or museum studies (preferred)Passion for advancing sustainable agriculture and food systems (required)Experience collecting and editing audio in GarageBand, Logic Pro, or similar platform (preferred)Strong writing skills and an eye for design (required)Ability to work in a dynamic environment and shift between different thinking strategies (required)Interest in nonprofit operations and fundraising (preferred)Responsibilities May IncludeDeveloping Stone Barns’ digital guide on Bloomberg Connects, including copywriting, generating new guide stops, and editing audio interviewsAssisting with Stone Barns’ public and member programming––including Community Membership, monthly markets, and seasonal workshops––and brainstorming ways to strengthen their design and implementationWorking with Blue Hill’s design team to develop digital and in-print educational assets and marketing materialsSupporting Open House, our research showcase and fundraising eventResearching cultural institutions in our region and generating ideas to strengthen our programming and engagement strategiesCreating content for our Instagram and newsletterEligibilityOpen to currently enrolled undergraduate students and recent graduates.The DetailsCompensation: $18/hourLocation & Hours: Roughly 30-35 hours per week, in-person at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, NY (~1 hour from NYC), Wednesday through Saturday throughout the summer.Blue Hill will provide educational materials at no cost, select field trips, and opportunities to participate in tastings, Blue Hill staff trainings and scheduled intern meals at Blue Hill at Stone Barns and Family Meal at Blue Hill in New York City.Blue Hill is committed to equity and inclusion throughout every aspect of our work and team.
