Through our programs—Dream Big, Take Flight, and Fly Free—we help children find hope, resilience, and self-expression through artistic exploration.Position SummaryA Free Bird is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HR Recruiter to support our Human Resources team in identifying and onboarding talented volunteers and staff members. This role focuses on managing candidate pipelines, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and helping maintain an efficient and organized recruitment process.The HR Recruiter will work closely with the HR team and department leaders to ensure A Free Bird attracts individuals who align with our mission and values. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in nonprofit recruiting, talent acquisition, and HR operations.Key ResponsibilitiesReview incoming applications and resumes for open roles across departmentsConduct initial candidate screenings and shortlisting based on job requirementsCoordinate and schedule interviews between candidates and hiring managersMaintain recruitment trackers and applicant records in an organized systemDraft and post job descriptions on recruitment platforms and internal channelsCommunicate professionally with candidates regarding application status and next stepsSupport the HR team in improving recruitment workflows and hiring strategiesAssist with onboarding preparation for new volunteers and team membersEnsure alignment between candidates' experience and A Free Bird's missionQualifications & CompetenciesCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or a related fieldInterest in recruitment, talent acquisition, or nonprofit HR operations1-2 years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or HR operationsStrong organizational and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesAbility to review resumes and identify relevant qualificationsComfortable working independently in a remote environmentProficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar)Professional, responsive, and detail-orientedAdditional InformationThis is a remote volunteer position requiring a minimum 3-month commitmentExpected weekly commitment is 5–10 hours per weekMust have access to a computer, phone, and reliable internet connectionWeekly check-ins via phone or video call may be requiredHow to ApplyPlease send your resume and a brief message of interest to hr@afreebird.org with the subject line:HR Recruiter Application – A Free Bird
