What You'll Be Working OnAs a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and scaling the systems that power CoHost's most data-intensive and AI-driven products. You'll work closely with the CTO, product, and data teams to build reliable, cost-efficient, and observable backend infrastructure that supports real customer workflows.This is a hands‐on role focused on production systems, data pipelines, and AI‐enabled features, not prototypes or demos.What Your Role Will EncompassIn this role, you will:Design, build, and maintain backend systems that support data-heavy, customer-facing productsBuild and maintain event pipelines, rollups, and ETL processes for analytics, attribution, and reportingWork with PostgreSQL, SingleStore, and DynamoDB, designing schemas and queries optimized for scale and performanceDevelop systems that power dashboards, metrics, analytics, and tracking used by customers dailyBuild and operate cloud infrastructure on AWS, including networking, IAM, VPCs, queues, workers, and storageMake thoughtful trade-offs around cost, reliability, observability, and performanceImplement monitoring, alerting, and logging to ensure production systems are healthy and debuggableBuild AI-powered features using LLMs for real workflows such as automation, classification, retrieval, and analysisWork with embeddings, retrieval pipelines, and AI-driven automation, knowing when and where AI meaningfully adds leverageCollaborate closely with product to translate business goals into scalable technical solutionsTake ownership of systems end-to-end, from architecture through production supportDatabasesSingleStoreDynamoDBEvent-driven architecturesRollups, ETL, and analytics pipelinesAWS (networking, IAM, VPCs, queues, workers, storage)Emphasis on cost efficiency, reliability, and observabilityAILLM-powered workflowsEmbeddings, retrieval, classification, and automationWho You AreMust-Have ExperienceHas managed production environments and understands operational responsibilityHas built features actively used in production by real customersStrong experience building production features on top of AWS productsDeep, hands-on knowledge of AWS IAM, VPCs, subnets, server architecture, and cloud securityExperience designing and operating secure, scalable AWS-based systemsPrior experience scaling systems to support growing data volume, traffic, and customer usageStrong backend engineering experience with data-heavy systemsExperience leveraging cloud infrastructure to solve real business problems, not just deploy servicesDeep understanding of relational and non-relational databasesStrong debugging skills and comfort level operating systems in productionNice-to-HavesStartup experienceExperience working on analytics, attribution, or measurement systemsPrior experience shipping AI-powered features beyond experimentationHow We WorkWe care deeply about reliability, cost awareness, and long-term maintainabilityWe build products that customers rely on every dayWe focus on impact, ownership, and clear communicationLocation & TimingRemote roleMust be able to work EST hoursStart date: As soon as possibleSalary Range: $110,000-$135,000 CAD annually depending on experienceCompetitive salary and compensation packageFull medical and dental benefitsGenerous vacation policy (starting at 5+ weeks)Opportunities for learning, growth, and ownershipQuarterly team events#J-18808-Ljbffr
