IdahoSTARS Child Care Health Consultant Position Details Position Title: IdahoSTARS Child Care Health Consultant Division/College: College of Education, Health & Human Sciences Department: Center on Disabilities & Human Development Location: Boise, Twin Falls Position Overview: IdahoSTARS is a statewide program funded by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare-Block Grant. It is designed to assist parents by offering child care referrals and information about quality child care settings, as well as to assist child care providers with a variety of professional development opportunities and resources. The IdahoSTARS Child Care Health Consultant position promotes healthy and safe child care by assisting with program policy development and implementation of quality health, safety, and nutrition practices in early care and education settings. This position provides coaching, training, and resources to child care directors and providers, families, and regional and statewide partners. Unit URL: Idaho CDHD | Idaho's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities IdahoSTARS > Home Position Qualifications Required Experience: Working on an interdisciplinary team Developing and implementing health and safety policies Conducting adult workshops and/or providing training (small and large groups) Working in child and community health Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Required Other: Ability to travel Ability to work non-standard business hours Additional Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a health care field such as nutrition, dietetics, oral health, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, pediatric nursing, community health nursing, health educators, pediatric play therapy, child life specialist, environmental health OR Bachelor's Degree in any field and at least two years of experience in a health related setting such as an emergency responder, early childhood mental health endorsee, or any other health related certification with two years of experience. Education and training:• Licensed health professional Knowledge of:• Early child care and education• Health and safety standards in child care• Injury prevention for children• Oral health of children• Children with special health care needs in child care settings• Safe medication administration• Safe sleep practices and policies• Immunization schedules for children• Developmental screening tools and procedures for use Ability to:• Maintain a high level of confidentiality• Interact and communicate with others effectively• Use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar in composing written statements• Manage a variety of projects simultaneously• Portray a professional demeanor Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Degree Requirement: Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire Posting Information FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Employee Category: Classified Pay Range: $25.00 per hour or higher commensurate with experience Type of Appointment: Fiscal Year FTE: 1.00 Full Time/Part Time: Full Time Funding: This position is contingent upon the continuation of work and/or funding.
