Sporadic Cover School Warden - EnnisJob DescriptionThe post of Sporadic Cover School Warden is to safeguard children on their way to and from school when crossing busy thoroughfares. The warden is posted to a designated crossing and must attend regularly and punctually. In the event of being unable to attend due to sickness or any other cause, the line manager must be informed.DutiesThe duties may include:Safeguard children at the crossing.Use a portable traffic sign as prescribed in the Traffic Warden Regulations, 1955.Wear personal protective equipment.Carry a signed identification issued by the council.Exercise duty of care for the safety of self, fellow employees and the general public at all times in compliance with the Health & Safety Management System.Qualifications for the postESSENTIAL CRITERIACharacter: Each candidate must be of good character.Health: Candidates must be in a state of health that indicates a reasonable prospect of regular and efficient service.Education: Candidates must have a good standard of education to enable efficient duty performance.Age: Each candidate must be under 70 years of age if not a new entrant, unless they are a new entrant as defined by the Public Service Superannuation Act.Nationality/EU status: Candidates must meet the specified citizenship or visa criteria as listed.Failure to input and upload proof of essential educational qualifications will deem the applicant ineligible.Salary and BenefitsSalary is fully inclusive and follows the salary scale as determined. The current salary scale (February 2026) is €20.58.Annual leave is 8% of hours worked in a year. The holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December.Working HoursWardens are normally employed five days a week (Monday to Friday). Hours will not exceed 4 hours per day.
