Job Description General Accountant Last Updated on Aug 12, 2024Reports to Accounting ManagerPurpose: Transact accounting entries, complete month-end close activities, reconcile accounts, process payroll, generate managerial reportsResponsibilities and DutiesServe the organization’s accounting requirements including General Accounting, Payroll, Fixed Assets accounting, and Pharmacy accounting primarily, with a supporting role related to Cash Management, Accounts Payable, and Accounts ReceivableBook entries related to leases, notes, mortgages, and other liabilitiesMaintain revenue recognition standards as they relate to patient revenue, grant revenue, donations, and all other revenue streamsSupport daily cash management efforts including ongoing reconciliations of all bank accounts, tracking of donations, and accounting for credit card transactionsParticipate in month-end and year-end accounting activitiesSupport the annual financial audit, providing requested data and analysesEnter and analyze statistical data including patient encounters and other accountability metricsParticipate in annual physical inventory of the Foundation’s inventory and its fixed assets, producing reports and analysesFunction as the resident expert related to synchronization of accounting systems (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Cards, General Ledger)Maintain rigid adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesAdhere to all internal controls including regular reconciliations of balance sheet accountsAssist in developing annual operating budgets and other forward-looking strategic analysesMaintain job procedures for assigned tasks and functionsContribute to cross-functional projects and objectivesAssist leadership with special projects and information requestsModel Cahaba Medical Care’s Core Cultural CompetenciesPerform other requests and responsibilities as assigned by leadershipQualifications:RequiredA minimum of two years of experience in the Accounting professionBachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or other business-related fieldIndisputable reputation for integrityDisciplined sensitivity regarding confidential informationCritical thinking to ask appropriate questions and recognize questionable transactionsCollaborative dispositionPassion for Cahaba Medical Care’s Core Cultural CompetenciesAdvanced skill and proficiency with accounting softwareFunctional with spreadsheet software in manipulating large data sets PreferredFunctional in Sage Intacct accounting softwareFamiliarity with BILL A/R and A/R softwareExperience with Ramp Credit Card softwareExpertise in Pharmacy accounting including operating in Liberty softwareExperience with Google Sheets including graphing featuresWork Environment:Cahaba Medical Care is a nicotine-free organization.
