Part-Time Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant Float The position of Medical Assistant is responsible for filling in the roles that the clinic is currently needing.The essential functions of the Medical Assistant Float position can be divided into the categories of Scribe duties and Circulator duties. During any particular patient visit, the Medical Assistant Float may be responsible for performing some or all of these functions, depending on the nature of the visit, the wishes of the Provider and the presence or absence of a second assistant during the patient visit.The Scribe duties that may be assigned to the Medical Assistant Float include, but are not limited to, the following:Accompanying Provider into the patient examination room and accurately documenting the Provider's encounter with the patient, including HIP, ROS, Physical Assessment, Education, Lab Orders, Radiology Orders, Assessment/Plan, Billing, and Meaningful Use. The position does not complete charting documentation for prescriptions.Ensuring that the Provider reviews and signs off on the patient's chart.Regularly monitoring voicemails and promptly returning phone calls from patients.Regularly monitoring EMR messages and responding in a timely manner.Performs other related duties as assigned.The Circulator duties that may be assigned to the Medical Assistant Float include, but are not limited to, the following:After each patient visit, updating Face Sheet Plan with all pertinent information including but not limited to UDS/PMP/Pill Count Consistent/Inconsistent, Repeat UDS, Procedures/Imaging/PT, and Medication Refills/Changes/Weaning Plan.Documenting Warnings/Violations/Inappropriate Behavior in "Alerts" or in the personal notes section of the Face Sheet.Updating Past Medical History ICD codes, reconciling current medication list, performing pill counts, and entering PQRS codes.Obtaining and recording patients' vital signs in the medical health records software.Completing letter out referrals for orders.Sending messages for prior authorizations for back braces.Scheduling patients' next appointments.Regularly monitoring voicemails and promptly returning phone calls to patients.Regularly monitors EMR messages and responds in a timely manner.Performs other related duties as assigned.In addition to the above-described duties, the Medical Assistant Float may be assigned to fill in for other positions in various clinic locations, including, but not limited to, the UDT Processor and Receptionist.Core competencies include:Excellent oral and written communication skillsStrong telephone communication skillsKnowledge of current medical terminology to communicate with physician, staff, and patientsHigh level of attention to detailStrong organization, filing, and time management skillsBasic computer literacy and typingPatient focusedRequired education, experience, and/or certifications include a BLS certification and current influenza vaccination. Two (2) years of prior clinic experience is preferred.Working environment and physical demands include frequent travel, operating standard office equipment, and performing various physical tasks.
