Principal Hardware Technical Program Manager

Overview As a Principal Hardware Technical Program Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team to plan, develop, and launch cloud hardware at scale. You’ll own the Plan-of-Record for new product development, align hardware, software, sourcing, and operations, and communicate risks to senior leadership. You will shape end-to-end program strategy, mitigate risks, and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery for Microsoft’s cloud hardware initiatives. This role sits within SCHIE/HIFE, driving trusted, efficient infrastructure for the Intelligent Cloud mission. ResponsibilitiesLead cross-functional teams (hardware, software, sourcing, data center ops) to document and execute the Plan-of-Record for new hardware developmentManage technical program execution for cloud hardware development, including milestones and dependenciesDevelop and articulate a holistic product development and launch strategy across multiple functionsIdentify and communicate technical risks, and drive mitigation plansCollaborate with internal and external partners to form a cohesive development planMaintain deep understanding of product requirements, milestones, and interdependencies to build effective project infrastructureEscalate and communicate risks to stakeholders and ensure timely decisionsDrive risk management for new product introductions, scenario planning, and risk recoveryEnsure cross-functional alignment and readiness for data center infrastructure development, launch, and deploymentUse PM tools and communication methods to establish shared understanding of the program plan of record to stakeholdersCoach and grow team members and align stakeholders to deliver on schedule and budget Key requirementsBachelor’s Degree and 6+ years in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience3+ years managing cross-functional or cross-team projectsAbility to meet security screening requirements including Microsoft Cloud Background CheckExcellent communication and presentation skillsability to work in ambiguity and drive claritystrong collaboration with diverse stakeholdersTechnical Program Managementrisk management and mitigationcross-functional leadership
