Crew Worker- Building Maintenance - Janitorial Reports to: Crew Supervisor- Building Maintenance Department: Public Works Work Hours: 7:00 - 3:00pm; Monday - Friday May require some weekends Starting Salary: $19.10 - 19.58 Hourly DOQ (Non-Exempt) Purpose of Work: This position is responsible for custodial, maintenance, and light repair or renovation of City buildings and stationary equipment. Work involves the performance of light to heavy manual tasks and the safe operation of a variety of hand and power tools and light equipment. Detailed assignments are given by and work is performed under the direct supervision of the Crew Supervisor. Major Responsibilities:Performs custodial activities in various City buildings and parks such as cleaning bathrooms (toilets, sinks, wiping mirrors, replacing hand soap, replacing toilet paper, replacing towels), washing windows, emptying trash cans, sweeping/vacuuming/mopping floors, dusting off furniture, and emptying recycle bins.Changes light bulbs and fluorescent fixtures as needed.May assist with the set up and movement of furniture and recreational equipment.Cleans and maintains tools, equipment and assigned vehicles.Reports any safety hazards ormaintenance problems to theCrewSupervisor.May perform duties such stripping and waxing floors.May be called in as needed to perform emergency services including protection of property, repair of public facilities and removal of debris.Locking and unlocking buildings for meetings and activities as needed.Occasional assistance with setting up chairs and tables for city activities on weekends; performing routine security checks during weekends as well to identify issues or concerns on campus.Performs all other related duties as assigned or needed. Minimum Qualifications & Physical Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical school training preferred. Valid State of Georgia driver's license (Class C) with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR). Substantial work experience in performing comparable duties with similar equipment and tools. Computer knowledge and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (10-100 lbs.) and bend, squat, twist, crawl, and climb on a daily basis. Ability to work in a variety of extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform work while being exposed to dust, pollen, allergens, exhaust fumes, herbicide chemicals, etc. Must be available for emergency call-in on weekends, evenings, and holidays. Equipment/Tools: Operates a bucket and mop, vacuum cleaner, low speed floor scrubber and high speed buffer, pressure washer, mobile lift vacuum and other janitorial and maintenance equipment.
