Our employees make the world more productive by improving the efficiency and reliability of the machinery that keeps industry in motion.The Production Scheduler oversees all production planning and scheduling for the Traverse City Plant, a very high mix production environment. This role is focused on establishing a stable, predictable production rhythm by leveling the volume and mix of manufactured products to deliver product in a short lead time. They are also responsible for logistics coordination within the supply chain.Scheduling:Maintains the production schedule to create and adjust schedules to maximize order fulfillment, lead time reduction and on time deliveryUtilizes Heijunka board to ensure level loading and mix to match customer demandMonitors production activities to ensure priorities and timing are met; reporting out accordinglyCommunicates with purchasing and customer service to generate promise dates for customer orders and generate lead times for customer quotesAttends daily production meetings to ensure schedule adherence; ensures delivery concerns are communicated appropriately to all stakeholdersLogistics:Coordinate sea and air shipments from overseas suppliers including internal Timken suppliersOptimize logistics plans to ensure on time delivery and reduced part costsManage weekly Intersite logistics service and schedule couriers when neededRequirements:Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience5 years' related experience in scheduling and logisticsBackground in a high mix production environment (preferred)Demonstrated history of working with Lean/Toyota Production System principlesPositive attitude and team player. Desire to work well with others and support each other's goalsStrong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and overall organizational skillsUnderstanding of ERP systems (INFOR / XA a plus)This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data ("CTD") and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).
