Safety Engineer -Data Center

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values collaboration, and wants to grow their career with a construction company that puts people first.Why GCON?People-first culture with a strong commitment to inclusionHigh-visibility role with real impact on job site safetyExposure to complex, cutting-edge construction projectsCollaborative teams and supportive, accessible leadershipCareer growth opportunities in a rapidly expanding organizationAt GCON, safety is more than complianceits how we care for our people.What Youll DoSafety Leadership & Field EngagementAct as the on-site Safety Representative for assigned construction projects, providing hands-on safety leadership and daily field presence.Execute all safety functions across project lifecycles, from mobilization through close-out.Partner with project teams to embed safety into planning, execution, and daily decision-making.Compliance & Risk ManagementImplement and maintain site-specific safety plans aligned with GCONs safety program and OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning reviews, and project-specific risk assessments.Perform regular site safety inspections, identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and follow through to resolution.Ensure all required safety records, documentation, and reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.Training & CoachingLead job site safety orientations for all new employees and visitors.Deliver and coordinate safety training including (but not limited to):Fall protectionScaffold user trainingForklift and mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) training* Serve as a go-to resource for employees on environmental, health, and safety best practices.Continuous ImprovementStay current on evolving safety laws, regulations, and industry best practices.Support incident investigations and assist with identifying trends and preventive measures.Collaborate with the Safety Manager to identify opportunities to strengthen GCONs safety culture and systems.What You BringRequired QualificationsBachelors degree in Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), or a related field2-3 years of experience in safety engineering or a related safety role in constructionValid drivers license with a good driving recordStrong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Comfort using and learning new technologies and safety platformsStrong communication skills with the ability to engage field teams and leadershipOSHA 10/30 certificationLocation: Project-Based / On-SiteTravel: Required (project dependent)Preferred QualificationsSafety certifications such as:Dust Control 310First Aid / CPRHAZWOPER (24-hour)NFPA 70ECHSTOSHA 510/500* Working knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 or applicable state construction safety regulations* 2+ years of experience supporting high-tech or mission-critical construction projects (data centers, semiconductor, chip manufacturing)Physical & Work Environment RequirementsThis role is primarily field-based and requires the ability to safely navigate active construction sites:Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and balancingAbility to climb stairs and laddersLift and carry up to 40 lbsProlonged periods of sitting and computer useVisual acuity (near, mid, far), depth perception, and color visionAbility to hear alarms, radio communication, and conversational speechAbility to travel and sit for extended periods during project assignmentsEqual Opportunity EmployerGCON is an equal opportunity employer and considers all applicants for employment based on merit, competence, performance, and business needs.
