Teaches a full range of non-credit lecture and lab coursesin the Building Maintenance program, providing students with classroom andhands on learning. Performs student learning outcome assessment to makecontinuous improvements and actively engages in the promotion of workplacehealth and safety-related areas. Collaborates with other instructors and staffto provide appropriate learning opportunities for students. Monitors studentswhile they practice within program labs.ESSENTIALFUNCTIONSPrepares and delivers learning activities to achieve course outcomes in key areas including but not limited to:Electrical: breakers, switches, wiring, and alarm systemsPlumbing: faucet/toilet repair, drains, water supply, and hot water tanksHVAC: air conditioners and thermostatsAppliances: washer/dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, and refrigeratorDrywall & Painting: cutting, spackling, sanding, taping, and painting techniquesGeneral Maintenance: pest checks, windows/doors/locks, safety, and tenant relationsProvides a learning environment appropriate for enhancing academic progressProvides instructional methodologies and hands-on demonstrations consistent with student needs within the program guidelinesPrepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handoutsProvides well defined goals for student achievementEvaluates and grades student's class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinationsMaintains up-to-date academic and attendance records in compliance with school and regulatory organization policies and guidelinesFosters effective communication between students, staff, and administrationPeriodically meets with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training developmentPerforms other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGMinimum of five (5) years' experience in building maintenance or facilities management or Journeyman's Card in related fieldExperience delivering hands-on instruction in a classroom or training environmentRelevant certifications or licenses in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general maintenance KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Demonstrated expertise in building maintenancePossess strong organizational and time-management skillsPossess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to travel between campusesDemonstrated proficiency in current industry technologyDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)Ability to work accurately with great attention to detailPossess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of the communityCOMPETENCIESCRITICAL COMPETENCIESService FocusCommunicationQuality of Work VERY IMPORTANT COMPETENCIES Time UtilizationCollaborationIMPORTANTCOMPETENCIES AdaptabilityContinuous ImprovementPREFERREDQUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE,EDUCATOIN/TRAININGPrior teaching or training experience, especially in apprenticeship or workforce development programsExperience with institutions of higher education PHYSICALDEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS(Thedemands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of thisjob.
