This role may occasionally assist servers during busy periods. Responsibilities:Prepares and/or assists with the preparation and delivery of food for members and guests. Be in the scheduled work area, ready to work at the scheduled time, in proper, clean, and pressed uniform. Checks with the supervisor for station assignment, side work, and shift announcements; ensures the station is properly set up and clean. Attends pre-service briefings for daily menu information and announcements; knows major ingredients and preparation details of all food items being served during the meal period. May assist with catered events on an as-needed basis. Food Expediting:• Coordinates with cooks/chefs to ensure all orders are prepared correctly and in proper sequence. • Verifies that each plate matches the order, including correct items, portion sizes, and dietary modifications. • Communicates with cooks/chefs about order timing to ensure meals are served fresh. Delivery and Service:• Transports food from the kitchen to dining areas, including members' tables or designated service areas. • Serves meals to members or staff with professionalism and attention to special needs. • Ensures trays and plates are arranged properly, including condiments, utensils, and napkins. • Assists as a server when needed, taking orders, delivering beverages, and clearing tables. Quality Control:• Checks food presentation, temperature, and portioning before service. Maintains tables and dining areas by removing dirty plates, silverware, wrappers, and other debris; refills water glasses and condiments as needed. Checks with members shortly after food delivery to ensure satisfaction and addresses any issues or communicates them to supervisors/cooks. Monitors the dining room for areas needing attention, including spills, clutter, or member requests. Performs station side work and assists with cleaning and resetting tables between seatings. Cleans the dining room and service areas at the end of each meal. Follows departmental health and safety procedures and maintains a clean, safe, and organized environment for members, self, and staff. Communicates effectively with cooks/chefs, servers, and supervisors to ensure smooth operation and timely delivery of meals. Attends and participates in all in-service programs. Uses good judgment in determining the needs of members, coordinating with different departments, and maintaining delivery of those needs in accordance with recognized standards; understands and follows all regulatory and facility policies. Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures regarding food service practices. Maintains confidentiality of members' PHI (Protected Health Information) and medical records. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications:Must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent. Experience as a server, wait staff, or in food service is preferred but not required. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends, evenings, or nights Knowledge of customer service processes, including assessing member needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating satisfaction, preferred. Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal food sanitation and safety regulations preferred. Ability to follow direction and support dining staff under supervision of cooks/chefs or supervisors. Basic computer skills as they relate to the job, including order tracking or point-of-sale systems. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
