The approved grant proposal stipulates that the program will provide instruction during the academic year and summer components for program students who are high school students in the qualified Dayton Public School.The hourly pay rate for this position is $29.62 and has a maximum of 28 hours per week.This is a grant funded position and contingent upon those funds associated with the grant.We are currently seeking tutors with expertise in math, science, and Spanish. This position description does not represent in any way a contract of employment.Principal AccountabilitiesProvide customer service and/or student advocacy as demonstrated through a positive attitude in teaching, approachability, adaptability, strong problem solving and desire to identify and support student successEngage in behaviors that encourage student learningProvide academic instruction in the classroom and laboratory settingProvide creativity in learning both in and out of the traditional classroom setting.Explain and clarify classroom and textbook informationAssist students in developing good study skills and habitsProvide information about academic and study aidsProvide clear and consistent feedback on course material and student academic workConsult with high school instructors and college faculty if neededInterpret rules, definitions, and usage etc.Guide students through sample problems or examplesAttend staff meetings and orientations as scheduled an assigned by Project DirectorInstructors also: develop curriculum, develop syllabi, develop and administer tests to students, grade papers, evaluate the performance of each student and disseminates grades, and provides supplemental instruction and tutoringRequirementsMinimum of a bachelor's degree in education in one of the following areas: language arts, mathematics, science, biology, or chemistry, foreign language - Spanish or French required; master's degree preferredMust have teaching certification and/or licensure requiredMinimum of 1-3 years of teaching experience preferred
