Process Development Associate
*About the Opportunity*
A global biopharmaceutical company is seeking an Associate to join a small, collaborative team of scientists and engineers in its pilot-scale bioprocessing lab. This group develops and tests new technologies for future large-scale biologics manufacturing and supports process development and technology transfer for both early and late stage programs.
*Responsibilities*
* Run pilot-scale upstream and downstream operations, from cell bank thaw through final drug substance freeze.
* Set up, operate, and troubleshoot bioprocessing equipment including single-use bioreactors, chromatography systems, and filtration systems (TFF, viral filtration, UF/DF).
* Pack and qualify chromatography columns.
* Test process samples using analytical instruments.
* Record work in electronic lab notebooks following GDP and applicable SOPs.
* Write, review, and revise SOPs, batch procedures, forms, and technical reports.
* Monitor, analyze, and summarize process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
* Partner with engineering, automation, and management to resolve equipment or process issues.
* Represent the lab on cross-functional teams as needed.
* Escalate safety, quality, or equipment concerns appropriately.
* Support continuous improvement, 5S, and a clean, organized workspace.
*Required Qualifications*
* Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Physics, or a related field (Chemical Engineering strongly preferred).
* 1 to 5 years of relevant experience, including co-op, internship, academic, or industry work.
* Strong foundation in scientific and math concepts such as pH, pressure, flow rate, mass, volume, density, dilutions, and basic algebra.
* Basic understanding of cell metabolism.
* Comfort working in a wet lab, pilot plant, or operations environment.
* Clear, concise verbal and written communication.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and standard computer tools.
* Familiarity with GDP and data integrity principles (ALCOA+).
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
