Corporate Staff Accountant

This position is an entry level role in the corporate accounting function of a growing, employee-owned (ESOP) construction company. The Corporate Staff Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Manager on core accounting responsibilities and day-to-day accounting operations.The ideal candidate is a strong team player with solid communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. We are looking for someone who fits well within a collaborative culture and is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a high-performing accounting team.Key ResponsibilitiesMonthly AccountingAssist with monthly close activities, including preparation of balance sheet and bank reconciliations.Support general ledger maintenance and basic journal entry preparation.Help ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting.Assist with payment processing, including vendor payments, coding transactions accurately, and other transactional accounting functions as needed.Help maintain organized accounting records and documentation.Payment Processing & Transactional SupportAssist with payment processing, including vendor payments.Support accounts payable and other transactional accounting functions as needed.Help code transactions accurately while maintaining the proper documentation consistent with internal SOP.Special Projects & Operational SupportContribute to special projects as assigned, including process improvements, system enhancements, and integration of new or acquired entities.Partner with cross functional teams that would be assigned for various ad hoc projects.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting or a related field preferred.Accounting experience preferred; open to candidates with varying levels of experience .Basic understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.Experience with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel preferred.Construction or corporate accounting experience is a plus but not required.Skills & AttributesStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.Clear written and verbal communication skills.Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take on new responsibilities.Demonstrates an ownership mindset consistent with an employee-owned (ESOP) culture.Compensation & BenefitsCompensation will be marketbased and commensurate with qualifications and experience.Benefits may include but not be limited to Employee Stock Ownership Plan, Medical & Dental insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, Paid maternity leave, Wealth advisor services, Life & Disability insuranceEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
