Stress Engineer 3

Northwest Aerospace Technologies ("NAT"), a Safran Company, is the only EASA DOA Certified aircraft interior reconfiguration group in the United States. Focusing on commercial and military aircrafts, NAT provides first class services in design, engineering, quality, certification, and manufacturing for a variety of Blue-Chip customers. The Level 3 Stress Engineer ensures structural integrity of designed products and all affected aircraft structure. Performs structural analysis using analysis tools and industry standard approaches to validate and verify structure and components meet requirements and specifications. Defines and documents analysis and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Works with minimal direction and provides technical assistance to less experienced engineering personnel. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform and document structural analysis to substantiate that requirements are met • Review and verify that drawings are in compliance with all strength requirements and all applicable FARs • Write test plans and test reports • Perform preliminary analysis, design support, and evaluate design trade studies • Support drawing revisions and on-site crew in a timely manner during the aircraft modification • Mentor to less experienced engineers • Accepts responsibility for own work • Communicates concerns in an accurate and timely manner • Works constructively and communicates clearly in a team environment General Notes: • All employees have an affirmative duty to protect and maintain the confidentiality of NAT products • As business conditions change it is necessary that all employees productively react and handle other essential tasks as assigned now or in the future • Tasks may vary slightly based on products produced at divisionJob RequirementsKnowledge/Experience: * Bachelor of Science required in Mechanical, Civil, or Aeronautical Engineering * Min 7 years of experience with emphasis in structural analysis within the aerospace industry. Skills / Abilities: * Vast knowledge of aircraft structures, material strengths/properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes * Extensive knowledge of engineering analysis methods * Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, analyze data, summarize findings, develop conclusions, and recommendations from appropriate data sources. * Experience in the application of the finite element analysis method of structural components * Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel * Basic knowledge of CAD tools and systems Working Conditions: * Primarily office-based with occasional travel * Consistent use of computer keyboard and monitor Physical Requirements: * Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds * Occasional bending, climbing, grasping and lifting.
