Our firm has been exclusively engaged to identify a Director of E-Commerce for a privately held, vertically integrated consumer products organization entering a significant growth phase. This company has an established national retail footprint, a diversified multi-brand portfolio, and full control across product development, manufacturing, and distribution.With decades of operating history and approximately $100M in annual revenue, the business is now under new executive leadership and is investing heavily in scaling its digital capabilities. E-commerce represents one of the most critical and underdeveloped growth channels, and this hire will play a central role in defining and executing that strategy.The OpportunityThis is a foundational leadership role—effectively the first true head of e-commerce within the organization. The mandate is to build, scale, and lead the entire digital business across direct-to-consumer and marketplace channels.You will inherit a capable execution team and early signs of traction across key platforms, but the function currently lacks unified leadership, long-term strategy, and operational rigor. This creates a unique opportunity to architect the vision, establish best practices, and build a high-performing, scalable e-commerce engine.The role offers direct exposure to executive leadership and significant influence over growth strategy, brand development, and digital transformation.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn full P&L accountability for all e-commerce channels (DTC and marketplaces)Define and execute a comprehensive digital growth strategy and operating roadmapBuild, mentor, and scale a high-performing e-commerce teamLead channel strategy across Shopify, Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, Faire, and emerging platformsRelaunch and optimize underperforming marketplace channels, including AmazonIdentify and develop new revenue streams, including social commerce and emerging platformsDrive site performance through UX optimization, merchandising, pricing, and conversion strategiesOversee performance marketing efforts across major digital channels with a strong ROI focusEstablish and track core KPIs including ROAS, CPA, conversion rate, AOV, and LTVPartner cross-functionally with product, creative, supply chain, and sales leadershipElevate brand storytelling and positioning across a diverse product portfolioLeverage a robust new product pipeline to identify breakout and high-growth opportunitiesCandidate ProfileWe are seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial leader with a strong track record of scaling e-commerce businesses in complex, multi-channel environments.7+ years of progressive e-commerce leadership experienceDemonstrated success scaling digital revenue beyond $5M–$20M+Deep expertise across Shopify/DTC and major marketplaces, particularly Amazon Seller CentralStrong command of performance marketing and data-driven growth strategiesExperience building teams and infrastructure in high-growth or transformation environmentsAnalytical mindset with fluency in key e-commerce metrics and optimization frameworksComfortable operating in ambiguity and building from the ground upExperience in high-SKU, fast-moving consumer products environments is highly preferredWhy This RoleFirst dedicated e-commerce leadership role within a well-established companySignificant opportunity to build and shape a function from inceptionStrong product pipeline with demonstrated market traction and viral potentialHigh visibility and direct partnership with executive leadershipEntrepreneurial, execution-focused culture with meaningful growth ambitionsThis search is being conducted on a confidential basis.
